Moist air coming into contact with frozen tree branches set up perfect conditions for White Frost. By mid morning the skies cleared leaving a blue background for the icy crystal covered branches. As I made my way across a small frozen lake, to the nearby woods, and the pure white snow covering the lake sparkled as the noonday sun shone through the tiny snowflake prisms.
The forest was silent except for a downy woodpecker tapping on a nearby tree and an occasional chickadee peeping as it made flight through the mild December air.
I stopped for a minute to rest on a nearby hill and was amazed at the absolute beauty the surrounded me. God had painted the landscape this day with a masters brush, and I was humbled to be able to enjoy his creation on a day such as this.
By the breath of God ice is given; and the expanse of waters is frozen tight. (Job 37:10)
